Roof space rule of thumb
Budget ~90 sq ft of shadow-free area per kW. Higher-efficiency modules can bring it down to ~70 sq ft/kW.
Subsidy (PM Surya Ghar)
₹30,000/kW for the first 2 kW + ₹18,000/kW for the third, capped at ₹78,000 for residential on-grid and hybrid systems.
Battery sizing note
Off-grid needs roughly 1.15× your backup energy divided by depth of discharge; hybrid can run a smaller pack since the grid recharges it.
