EV vs Fuel Estimator is a free online tool that helps you compare the overall cost of owning a petrol vehicle against an electric vehicle (EV). Enter how far you travel daily, local fuel and electricity prices, your vehicle's mileage or energy use, the purchase price of both vehicles, and the EV battery price and life.
The tool estimates the all-in cost over 1, 3, 5 and 10 years — including purchase price, fuel or charging costs, and EV battery replacements — shows how much you save with an EV, and calculates the break-even point: the year in which the EV becomes cheaper overall.
All calculations are estimates based on the values you enter. Actual savings depend on fuel prices, driving habits, battery health and maintenance.
